UF architecture lecturer Tom Smith and his wife, Edith Williams, donated 1800s heart pine wood to the UF Solar Decathlon Team. The team helped deconstruct the McCredie house near Micanopy, Fla., in exchange for the salvaged materials.

UF historic preservation master's student Chris Berger examines paint samples from the Maria Mitchell House using a microscope purchased this season for the new Preservation Institute: Nantucket architectural materials conservation laboratory.

W. Jonathan Braddock, ARC 2001, graduated from MIT with a master's in architecture in 2005 and has been working at Skidmore Owings and Merrill in New York City since then.
Paul Goodwin III, BCN 1994, has been named president of Coastal Mechanical Services LLC in Melbourne.
Tim Hoeft, M.Arch 2006 and ARC 2004, and his firm, Straughn Trout Architects LLC, received a 2009 AIA Tampa Bay Merit Award for its McKay Archives Center on the Florida Southern College campus in Lakeland.
Jose Miranda, M.Arch 1988, principal of Miranda Architects in Fernandina Beach, has been re-appointed to the Florida Historical Commission.
Jonathan Moore, ARC 1995, has won two awards through his firm, ROJO Architecture. He received the 2009 AIA Tampa Bay People's Choice Award for ISPC's new corporate offices and an award from the Hillsborough County Planning Commission for the Hillsborough Achievement and Resource Center's new Center for Life Development.
Tony Rivas, BCN 1975, is the director of educational facilities for WG Mills, Inc., a Sarasota-based CM and works out of the Clearwater office. He lives in St. Petersburg and is a LEED AP, CCM, and a CGC. He and his wife, Nieves, celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in June.
Bradford Sims, MBC 1996, has been named dean of the College of Technology at Indiana State University, effective Aug. 1. He is currently professor and chair of the construction management department in the Kimmel School of Construction Management and Technology at Western Carolina University. |
