This past summer, students from the UF School of Architecture participated in a study abroad program in China. Under the guidance of the East Asia Summer Program Co-Directors Hui Zou and Albertus Wang, students explored the local cultures, had a unique travel experience and developed active relationships with East Asia's academic programs through a joint studio of urban design.

An unforgettable summer for landscape architecture students

Singapore

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a teaching assistant in Costa Rica, build a floating wetland in Singapore or develop a forest park entrance? For several landscape architecture students, this past summer involved all of this and so much more.

Offering study abroad programs in Paris and Bali, the Department of Landscape Architecture encourages its students to experience the profession in a unique and foreign culture.

on redesign project

Junior interior design students, with the guidance of interior design assistant professors Nichole Campbell and Marty Hylton, are working with The Village Continuing Care Retirement Community in Gainesville to redesign an outdated Independent Living building for use as Enhanced Independent Living. Enhanced Independent Living is a new level of care for CCRCs that is being developed from Dr. Campbell's research. The new designs developed by the students focus heavily on the building's social center. Students presented their work at the mid-project review on Oct. 15 and presented their final projects on Oct. 26.

Door/Window/Stair
Project 2012
DWS Project 2012

Every year, Design 3 students display models that look something like miniature houses in the atrium of the Architecture Building. This annual congregation, known as the Door/Window/Stair project, is a chance for students to design parts of a structure without dealing with the complexity of designing a full building.
