Question of the month:Question of the month:

What is your worst memory of being a DVM student??

Reply to:

CVM.Alumni.Affairs@vetmed.ufl.edu

We will share these comments between the classes

Answer from Michael Burke, ‘91:  "Unfortunately, for most '91 graduates it will be the murders of 1990 by Danny Rolling.  It was real panic when the gruesome bodies were discovered. I remember going to the hardware store to get a Peep hole for the front door of our condo and there was nothing left on the shelves of Ace Hardware. We put a 2x4 between the front door and the stairs for weeks. No one went anywhere alone. You had goose bumps all the time.  The women in our class probably felt even more vulnerable. It was a very frightening time, and a nightmare for many that never ended."

NOTE: A memorial tribute to these five students is on the 34th Street ‘wall’ and 5 palm trees were planted in the 34th Street median.  Gatorwood Apartments were finally bull-dozed a few months ago.

College phone number changes
Effective June 1, 2007, the main college telephone number – 392-4700 – will no longer be in service.  As our college has grown, so have our telephone numbers.  New department direct dial numbers take effect June 1, 2007. Make note of these changes:

  • College Administration: 352-392-2213 (Admissions, Alumni Affairs, Dean’s Office, Development, and Pet Memorial Program)
  • Large Animal Clinical Sciences: 352-392-2212
  • Small Animal Clinical Sciences: 352-392-2226
  • Large Animal Hospital: 352-392-2229
  • Small Animal Hospital: 352-392-2235
  • Racing Lab: 352-392-2238
  • Infectious Diseases and Pathology: 352-392-2239
  • Center for Environmental and Human Toxicology: 352-392-2243
  • Physiological Sciences: 352-392-2246

Extension numbers remain the same.  When calling the college, dial the new department direct number, press "1" and the extension number to reach your party.

The college e-mail address system is changing too.  The address "…@mail.vetmed.ufl.edu" will become "…@vetmed.ufl.edu".  The college is dropping the "mail."  All messages will be re-directed to the new address.  This makes the address a little shorter and more compatible with log-ins. This was effective May 1. Read More >>
